2008 BMFA National Championships
For the second year running the BMFA British Space Modelling Championships will be run by FAIR at RAF Barkston Heath over the Saturday and Sunday of the Spring Bank Holiday weekend. The event is open to all members of the BMFA. The Championship classes being flown are:
- S3A Parachute Duration
- S4A Boost Glider Duration
- S6A Streamer Duration
- S7 Scale
- S8E/P RC Rocket Gliders
- S9A Gyrocopter duration
The Space Nationals are again being run alongside the BMFA Free Flight Nationals. This makes for an interesting spectacle with many models floating around in the sky. This is the second largest BMFA event of the year and there will be several hundred competitors trying to become the British Champion in their best events over the weekend. A Campsite is set up on the site and many competitors stay on the airfield. There is on site catering as well and other airfield facilities available through out the weekend.
BMFA Nationals require pre-entry, although day tickets are available on the gate for sport fliers. The entry form, which includes the event schedule, can be downloaded here and should be sent to the BMFA head office ahead of the event with the appropriate flying fee.
As is usual at FAIR events, rocket motors will be available to competitors.
This event is also a BMFA team qualifier for the 2009 European Championships.
