The 2008 World Championship
The FAI run Space modelling world championships every two years. In 2008 the championships are being held in Lleida, Spain for the first time. We are sending a team of seven seniors and three juniors.
Supporters wanted
We are always keen to take along supporters to major events. A supporter has a number of critical roles to play
- Recovery: In the duration classes there are three rounds to be flown using a maximum of two models. Each round is usually one hour long which means that models must be recovered and prepared for the next flight. With models drifting up to a mile we deploy a recovery team down range to spot and recover as quickly as possible.
- Range set up: Flying starts early each morning and the competitors must prepare their models to fly as soon as they reach the range. Supporters can help by taking launch towers and other equipment out to the range, to be ready for the competition to start.
Supporters are full members of the British team and stay with the team at the championship headquarters. The get to attend all the same events and dine with the team each day.
