The classes flown in International Space Modelling

International Competition Space Modelling fly eight different classes to specifications published by the FAI. The rules are strictly adhered to and models must conform to the published specifications.

The eight classes are made up of:

  1. There are four duration classes, where the best performance is based on the maximum flight time; S3 parachute, S4 boost glider, S6 streamer, and S9 Gyrocopter.
  2. Two scale classes; S5 scale altitude and S7 super scale
  3. One height class S1 Altitude
  4. One radio controlled glider class S8E/P Rocket Glider

A World or Continental championship will consist five of the eight classes.

The World Cup events fly five of the classes; S4 boost glider, S6 streamer, S7 scale, S8E/P and S9 Gyrocopter.

There is an over view of each class with links in the text section above. You can download the latest copy of the full rules and regulations from the FAI web site by clicking here and clicking on the link for space modelling.
